I don't know about bass, probably jingle bells, but I think that my first cello piece was perpetual motion.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.. yup. The Suzuki Twinkle Variations

bass case- 12-21-2005

It amazes me how popular Suzuki is!

redhead_violinist- 12-24-2005

Yeah Suzuki is a great way to start I think You start straight away with pieces so its very motivating

biovio- 01-04-2006

i hear that suzuki aint good in the later volumns, i just did suzuki 1 ...well, like 2 songs from that gaha, suzuki 2, 1 song from 3, then i worked on AMEB, so yeah.

redhead_violinist- 01-05-2006

yeah, once you get to the later books its all just repertoire so you dont really have to stick with it

Wai- 01-09-2006

Some teachers complain that Suzuki focuses too much on songs rather than technique, even though it may be more fun. On the other hand, AMEB really focuses on technique but some of the songs are a bit crappy... :G

redhead_violinist- 01-09-2006

yeah.. .but when your young you need lots of songs to be motivated!

biovio- 01-13-2006

AMEB is soo not technique, well the scale part of it is, but the peices are just peices, even suzuki has more technique stuff then AMEB, well the first few books anyway, with the second vlumn, each peice was like an etude, u were concentrating on a sort of technique, i remember that the brahms waltz was a slur practise, so yeah, ABEM is just songs of a level, so ameb aint the best way to improve on violin, u wanna improve, buy a studies/etude book and start playing!

what is AMEB?
