Strings Glossary
Just post a word, and tell us what it means. Many people will benefit from this glossary if they don't know what a word means, and they can just look it up here! If you find an incorrect description or mis-spelt word, please PM that person to notify them. I'll start it off: Pizzicato Plucking the strings of an instrument that is usually played with a bow.

Arco Play with the bow.

Spiccato Playing very short notes by lightly bouncing the bow.

Legato Play smoothly and well connected, slurs.

Staccato Short and detached notes. I was taught to just pause with the bow, rather then jump off the string.

F-forte loud

P-piano soft

Martele A short, accented bowstroke where you apply pressure before you touch the string and release all pressure when your bow touches the string.

Allegro fast and lively

Andante A leisurely walking tempo

Marcato
Marcato - played with an accent

Adagio Slowly
