Poor oboes
I'm in the school's Concert Band, and I play the oboe part on violin. What annoys me is the lack of excitement, most of the time all I get are rests. Rest after rest and finally I get to play the last three bars of notes. How much worse can you get? Also, there's only "Oboe", yet there's "Flute I", "Flute II", "Flute III" and three clarinet parts which you can tell the composer has bothered to touch it. I get the worst parts, usually I'm just doing some crappy lower octaves with the flutes (which is the same as the clarinet part, although they occasionally get their "own" parts too. Does oboe get treated even worse than viola?

The thing about the "band"/woodwind and horn instruments is that they have a much more limited range than string instruments. This means that the music for these instruments is split up a lot more because they can only play certain parts of the piece.

kaka, id hate do to oboe, i hated last year when i was in band, played bass parts on teh keyboard, i pretty much learn liek 1 bar of notes then everythin is repeated, sumtimes i would be lucky to have a kool bass line, i rarely got a solo, though i got a new music teacher and he put me on flute, awsome, i always get the melody yay, yeah yeah, band music is crap, string quartet stuff are da bomd!
