. the worst thing about your ipod is that is syncs wif ur computer. this action was taken to prevent downloading music off the net. so, if you bought a new computer and wanna update ur ipod consider it impossible. you MUST have the song in the computer to have it in ur ipod. that is SUCH a drag! i mean if the songs on ur ipod, y have it on ur computer?
My computer got reformated, and i lost all my songs. does anyone have any tips on how to update my ipod now without losing my songs in my ipod?

Do iPods kick ass? If they do, I will consider buying one or asking for one for easter. :-? And would you recommend a mini or regular? Is there a big difference?
biovio- 01-08-2005
diferent in size (ipod size)
different in space(5 gb or 20,40,60(60 is for the colour ipods)
mini has 5 colours to chose from while reg is jsut the white (wich i lurv)
thats pretty much it..

. well that depends sonja.
if you want space (LOTS of space) go for regular, but it's a bit large, and in my opinion boring (sum ppl like it though).
however, if you want style, colour and dont mind risking a few gigabytes, then go Mini. i have a Mini Silver. visit www.apple.com/ipod or www.apple.com/ipodmini

yeah, I was checking out those sites earlier. I think that I will go for the mini because it cost less and I don't really think that I would need all of the space on the normal one.

I have a pink iPod mini. :) It was a gift from my mom for Christmas, heh.
The iPod is hands down, the best mp3 player to ever hit the market. In terms of value, convenience, ease of use and to top it off, it's aesthetically pleasing. A lot of people think iPods are cool, but don't know what makes it so loved by everyone who's ever had one.
I have some very large music files where it's an entire album on just one track, and I've uploaded my entire music collection to my mini. There's about 450 songs on it right now and I've used only half of the full capacity.
Value - In terms of their most inexpensive model, the mini, you're getting 4GB worth of music. That's about 1,000 songs in total. A lot of people have asked me why I didn't I just pay $50 more to get the normal iPod, which holds 5 times more. It's because I don't see the need to pay $50 more. I mean, what the heck am I going to do with 20GB? Use it for a paper weight? I can barely fill up 4GB as it is. Even if I do fill up my mini one day, Apple will have a new, better model out by then. So I can easily upgrade to whatever model they have out in the future, but for now the mini is more than enough as far as capacity goes.
Convenience - The mini and the regular iPod both use the same Apple technology which runs with iTunes. iTunes is a great program that's easy to use and does a great job with organizing your library. The mini fully charges in 3 hours, and you can express charge it if you're in a rush: charge 3/4 of the battery in one hour. I'm the type of person who can't go anywhere without music so I'm pretty much using this on a daily basis. I can't stand to have it charging all day, so this is a really big thing for me.
Ease of Use - The Apple interface, the buttons and the iPod itself is very easy to use. The click-wheel in mini's and 4th generation regular iPods is GENIUS. It's such a brilliant idea that I'm suprised it took them so long to think of it. I've never read the instructions and I learned how to fully use the iPod in about 2 minutes of tinkering with it.
A lot of people are turned off by the $250 price tag for the mini, but most of the other 512MB mp3 players are around $200. 512MB holds about 100 songs, while 4GB holds 1,000 songs. I think that speaks for itself. Also keep in mind that you're getting the reassurance of purchasing from Apple. If something does go wrong, Apple will see to it that it is fixed because a very large, independent company like Apple can't afford to have bad reviews by customers.
To top it off, the iPod simply looks cool. Other stuff out there like the iRiver look cool too, but you really make an impact with iPods. I don't know about you guys, but in LA, having a mini around your neck on a lanyard is probably the biggest fashion statement ever.
With all that how can one not love the iPod mini? ;)
