How did you begin your "string" journey?
Mine was simple. If I didn't bring that Bond DVD to TotallyString's house, I don't think neither of us would have been so into strings. TotallyString started before me, but after watching the DVD with him... yep! I'll join!

In fourth grade every one played an instrument! I wanted to be apart of the fun. I chose to be in the orchestra because I was (and still am) a classical freak! I chose bass because it was low (gotta love the low stuff) and unique!

My string journey was VERY WIERD. Although unbelievable, one day i was sitting on my couch thinking 'im so bored. wat can i do wif my life. im so unimportant - just a dot in the world' - well, you know, that 'unimportant' and 'uninvolved' feeling. so i decided to take up an instrument. I always wanted to do Piano but it was damn common and not very unique. For some reason i just thought 'VIOLIN' for no reason. i fink coz that was the only instrument i KNEW of apart from the piano LoL. In fact, i knew NOTHING about violins then. I used to get confused with violins for a cello. I remember wif my first violin lesson, the teacher said 'you place the violin on your neck', and im like, dont you place it on the ground or on your lap or sumfing? so then the teacher's like "that's a cello". and i was like ... a yeh... i knew that :P

In 3rd grade a woman came to my school offering to teach 3-5th graders string lessons.I was watching it and totally amazed... That day when I got in the car I was like Mommie I want to learn how to play the violin! 2 weeks later was Chirstmas and I got my 1st violin! They already started lessons, but I remember I got up real early and dressed all cute so she wouldn't think I was a bad student! I walked into the gym where it was held with my little violin cluched tight to me! She looked at me about to turn me away, but she didn't she just put me with the rest of the group and told me she isn't going back and reteaching (I wanted to cry!.... but I didn't want to get kicked out!) She show twinkle twinkle little star to us, it was amazing how I understood how to play it, with out that much help, and I got it before the other kids! She really helped me along with my musical life! Everyday I was the first person to come and the last to leave! ^_^

yes, thats cool! so your mum just said "yes" immediately?

SainouKawaii- 12-27-2004

She actually didn't say anything just like oh okay! THe Violin wasn't even brought up in any other discussions! Guess it just was my calling to play!

kool. i just wish i started violin earlier. each day i get older is a day off my chance to get real good at violin!

bass case- 12-29-2004

I hate that I did not start an instrument earlier! I did do piano when I was younger, but quit when I started bass. I always loved to listen to the orchestra, so I don't know why parents didn't start me on something! grrrr! Sure, they started me in spanish, but that blew over right away!

i know how you feel sonja LoL! I guess all we can do now is TRY and get REAL good at our instrument which, hopefully, won't take long. i once asked my violin teacher "wats the difference between starting young and starting old? when ur young ur brain isnt fully developed and when ur old ur brain is fully developed so there shouldn't be any difference" and she said that when ur young, you get a 'coordination' of your instrument which is harder to get when your older. hmmm

Yeah. When you learn an instrument when your brain is still developing, it sort of develops into your brain. Your brain is not as willing to learn when you are old.

i agree, its amazing how when ur parents speak to you in a langauge, you grow up with all the information and its its jsut locked up oin ur head, and its like, we had no teachers, they jsut spoke to you, and you no the language. thats why its hard to study langauges when ur old, its just harder to sit down and study now bak to strings i wasted like 3 months on the guitaar, i didnt like it, well i did, but i was forced to pla it, violin is soo cool, ma mum is gonna let me learn the cello when i read 8th grade for piano (ANOTHER 2 YRS!!!)
