Bond as a quintet?
If Bond was to get a fifth member, what instrument do you think she should play?

bass case- 12-08-2004

I don't think bond should et a fifth member, but if they did, they shoud be a bass.

Great topic Wai! Actually, a normal quintet consists of two violins, two violas and a cello, so probably the fifth member would be a violist (a pal for Tania LoL). A double bass is a good idea too, but they already have a cello, and two low instruments are too much, unless they balance it out with another high instrument. It happens that cellos and double basses have very strong tones, so not much of them are needed.

I think they are just fine, but in that case i would say the Viola :)

i think a doublebass would sound intersting, is there electric double basses...? iv NEVER seen one in my life

yes there is. concerning the brand bond uses, they're called "Orca" basses, like starfish violins etc.

I agree with viola. But in some cases there's a second cello in some of Bond's songs. In Explosive, I heard a second cello playing along with the violins at some stage {G C D Eb D C G Bb Ab Eb G...} (try play it on your string instrument and you'll know which bit I'm talking about... Hint: It's the bit people remember the best). At that stage, Gay-Yee is playing another part (the beating background music). I've gotten into a habit of listening to every song (not just Bond) very carefully, and 'detecting' any violins, violas or cellos playing. I'd be like "Ah, violins playing melody, cellos on background..."

I know that Gay-Yee has played bass in some of the songs, that is why it could be helpfull.

double bass would be awesome, but then again, they could use another Cello, cause you don't really hear the cello part that well. And most of the time the cello has a real wicked part! (but I just think that is due to sound)... but it would be so awesome having a cool chick playing dubble bass (hehe or guy~) and is there a such thing as an electric double bass! ^_^

yer, a double bass would be pretty cool :) but that person would have a hard time travelling around with their acoustic instrument

SainouKawaii- 12-30-2004

Aww poor little rodey and the bass!

bass case- 12-31-2004

You bet they would! But I would love to know of a "cool chick" bass player! That would be so inspiring! Maybe I will be the first!

hehe...y not phone up bond and say "can i be ur bassist?" jkz

biovio- 12-31-2004

but a song with the bass being louder then the treble is jsut rong, its like listening to canon in D, with the bass louder with the bass, the abs is surpose to be softer.

yer, duhh. but a bassist would mainly provide the rhythm and beat - u know, da extra low "boom boom boom boom"
