I went to the all state auditions today to see what it was like so I would be ready for next year. OMG it was sooooo amazing. Like somthing in a movie. THOUSANDS (Litterally) of musicians there trying out for the allstate symphony. People from WAY out of town came for the day, it was inside this MASSIVE highschool, and people were campign out sleeping, practicing eating, wathing their portable dvd players, on laptops, just waiting for their turn to audition. And man, talk about LOUD, it was soo noisy through there, tons of strings, percussion winds, etc everywhere just practicing their etudes and excerpts. Man it was truly amazing. I wish you guys could see it... Just thought I'd share

Music people are the best! I have been in situations like that and they are absolutely the most fun energy filled places. Thank you for sharing. Oh, and good news! I MADE ALL STATE FOR ILLINOIS!!!!!!!!!

Music is the most powerful thing. It can unite so many people, and sometimes it's very heartwarming! If only everyone in the world played an instrument or listened to classical music, there'd be no war! hehehe I just came back from a concert that Wai performed in. It was in a Shopping Centre, and there were many performers. They played Christmas songs and it was very fun to watch! There were even VERY LITTLE kids there, they were so cute! They had very small violins, but yer, it made me happy to know that these kids were playing at such a young age! All the musicians were wearing Christmas hats - it was very cute! Everyone was stopping by to watch. And the very little kids who couldn't play some of the songs rang Bells! =) =D It's that time of year again! (Christmas) *Tear rolls down eye* More playing christmas songs in front of the christmas tree at nighttime again! But I know how you felt from the experience Jake! I really like it when I see lots of musicians! And Zoe's right - Musician's are the best people on Earth!! And good work Zoe for getting in!! Good Luck! I just noticed something...TS is more than a year Old! I can still remember when this board started off and how it united the best musicians on the planet - fine memories!

LoL... you can't really call that a concert. We weren't even on stage, just beside the fountain. It was fun though.

OH YAY! What chair? Congrats! I won't know until I get there. When we get there we all go into auditions and then that night they post the results.

Wow.... I;m not sure we have an Allstate here we have the WA Symphony and the WA Youth Orchestra, but thats all WAYO has four levels for strings, Symphonietta (grade 2-3) Collegium (4-5) (these two are string orchs) Philharmonic (5-6) and Senior WAYO (7+) Ages range from 8-25. I just got accepted into Senior WAYO!

Yeah it is! I've heard that I'm in first violins too!

So All State starts in one week. I am pretty excited. Oh no I'm not, I'm absolutely bursting with excitement! I just thought I would come on and tell you all the pieces we will be playing. All-State Orchestra: Mars - Holst, Russlan and Ludmilla Overture - Glinka, Star Spangled Banner - ? Honors Orchestra: Pines of Rome - Respighi, La Forza del Destino Overture - Verdi, Star Spangled Banner - ? Those are all I can remember. I know that the All State orchestra has another piece, but I don't know the name. I am hoping to be in the Honors Orchestra because the music is so amazing and it would be a wonderful music experience. But I would be happy with a chair in the All-State Orchestra as long as I am not one of the last chairs.
